Woradet allegedly admitted that he had been working as a gambling website administrator for about one year after being recruited by an unidentified person through the Telegram application. He said he was paid 20,000 baht per month.

The investigation began after cyber police received information that a group of people had installed signal transmission equipment used to control GSM Gateways, or SIMBOX devices, in the Thai-Cambodian border area of Aranyaprathet district.

SIMBOX devices can be used by call center gangs to control SIM cards and make calls to deceive members of the public. Police investigated and identified a house believed to have been used to hide the equipment before obtaining the search warrant.

No SIMBOX equipment was found during the search. However, police arrested Woradet, who was allegedly working as an administrator for VAR999, and seized the computer he was using to promote the gambling website along with nine mobile phones.

During questioning, Woradet allegedly admitted that he was responsible for recruiting customers into LINE groups for foreign football betting. He sent links to the “VAR999” online gambling website to various groups in exchange for 20,000 baht per month from a Telegram account holder. He said he had been doing the job for more than one year.

Regarding the SIMBOX equipment, police later learned that it had been moved out of the Aranyaprathet area shortly before the search in an apparent attempt to evade detection. Investigators are now expanding the investigation into both the gambling website and the SIMBOX equipment to identify other people involved and those who benefited from the operations.
