Israel Rescues a Hostage from an Underground Tunnel in Gaza

JERUSALEM (AP) — Israel rescued a hostage from an underground tunnel in Gaza on Tuesday, freeing one of the scores of people abducted during the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas that ignited the war in Gaza.

The rescue brought a rare moment of joy to Israelis after 10 months of war but also served as a painful reminder that dozens of hostages are still in captivity as international mediators try to broker a cease-fire in which they would be released.

The military said Qaid Farhan Alkadi was rescued from a tunnel in a “complex operation” in the southern Gaza Strip, but provided few other details. It was not immediately known if the rescue was made under fire or if anyone was killed or wounded during the operation.

Alkadi was one of eight members of Israel’s Arab Bedouin minority who were abducted on Oct. 7. He was working as a guard at a packing factory in Kibbutz Magen, one of several farming communities that came under attack. He has two wives and is the father of 11 children.

Itzik Cohen talk after a rescue operation. The 52-year-old is one of eight hostages to be rescued alive, and was the first to be rescued from underground, the Israeli military said.

The Israeli military released footage showing Alkadi moments after the rescue. Unshaven and wearing a white tank top, he is seen sitting and smiling with soldiers before boarding a helicopter to a hospital where he was taken for medical checks. He appeared gaunt but doctors described his condition as stable.

His large family and residents from around the Rahat area thronged the hospital in the southern Israeli city of Beersheba to welcome him home.

As Alkadi’s family waited to see him in the hospital, one of his brothers held Alkadi’s infant son, who was born while he was in captivity and had not yet met his father, the brother said.

“We’re so excited to hug him and see him and tell him that we’re all here with him,” a family member who gave his name as Faez told Channel 12. “I hope that every hostage will come home so the families can experience this happiness.”

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant said the rescue operation was part of the army’s “daring and courageous activities conducted deep inside the Gaza Strip,” adding that Israel is “committed to taking advantage of every opportunity to return the hostages.”

Israel’s military spokesman, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, said Alkadi was “rescued from an underground tunnel following accurate intelligence.” Alkadi was held in a number of locations, including in underground tunnels, during his 326 days in captivity, Hagari said.

Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Alkadi by phone soon after he arrived at the hospital. He said that Israel would rely on rescue operations and negotiations to bring the remaining hostages home.

“Both ways together require our military presence in the field, and unceasing military pressure on Hamas,” Netanyahu said.

Hamas-led militants abducted some 250 people in the Oct. 7 attack, in which some 1,200 people, mostly civilians, were killed.

Israel’s retaliatory offensive has killed over 40,000 Palestinians, according to local health officials, who do not say how many were militants. It has displaced 90% of Gaza’s 2.3 million people from their homes and caused heavy destruction across the besieged territory.

Israeli airstrikes continued on Tuesday across the Gaza Strip, and Palestinian officials said at least 18 people, including eight children, were killed in the attacks.

Israel believes there are still 108 hostages in Gaza and that more than 40 of them are dead. Most of the rest were freed during a weeklong cease-fire in November in exchange for the release of Palestinians imprisoned by Israel.

Two previous Israeli operations to free hostages killed scores of Palestinians. Hamas says several hostages have been killed in Israeli airstrikes and failed rescue attempts. Israeli troops mistakenly killed three Israelis who escaped captivity in December.

Mazen Abu Siam, a close family friend waiting at the hospital, said the family was overjoyed to hear the news, but they were still praying for a cease-fire.

“We are waiting for a deal for one year,” Siam told The Associated Press.

The United States, Egypt and Qatar have spent months trying to negotiate an agreement in which the remaining hostages would be freed in exchange for a lasting cease-fire. Those talks are ongoing in Egypt this week, but there has been no sign of any breakthrough.

Netanyahu has faced intense criticism from families of the hostages and much of the Israeli public for not yet reaching a deal with Hamas to bring them home.

Hamas hopes to trade the hostages for a lasting cease-fire, the withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza and the release of a large number of Palestinian prisoners, including high-profile militants.

Last week, after the Israeli military recovered the bodies of six hostages in southern Gaza, Israel’s military spokesperson, Hagari, said the army was working to gather more intelligence for rescue operations. But he added that “we cannot bring everyone back through rescue operations alone.” ___

Deadly Phuket Landslide: Officials Investigate Big Buddha Temple’s Role

The landslide traces at the front of the parking area of the Big Buddha Temple on Nakkerd Hill are being investigated to determine whether they were the cause of the soil and rock slide that buried houses below in Karon sub-district of Phuket province on August 27, 2024.

PHUKETA devastating landslide in Phuket’s Mueang district has claimed 13 lives and injured 19 others, prompting officials to investigate the potential role of the Big Buddha Temple construction on Nakkerd Hill in the disaster.

The landslide, which occurred on August 23 in Soi Patak 2, 4 and Karon sub-district, affected 209 households across 9 villages. As recovery efforts continue, attention has turned to the possible causes of the tragedy.

On August 27, Col. Dusit Kaesonkaew, head of the team investigating and resolving state land encroachment and natural resource destruction in the 4th Army Area, revealed that construction at the Big Buddha site began in 2005. He noted that the project failed to implement proper water division techniques, contrary to highland construction engineering principles.

“The construction and land modification blocked natural waterways,” Col. Kaesonkaew explained. “When heavy rain occurs, water seeks new paths down the mountain. The landslide area appears to be one such new water path.”

Satellite imagery analysis shows soil and rock base movement in the area since February this year. The landslide occurred on a cliff with an approximately 80-degree slope, where trees only covered the topsoil layer.

Maj. Gen. Anusorn O-urai, Deputy Commander of the 4th Army Area, warned that this disaster highlights the risks of unchecked construction on Phuket’s steep terrain.

“This clearly indicates that the encroachment and destruction of natural resources is causing significant losses in terms of life, property, and Thailand’s tourism,” he stated.

Wattanapong Suksai, director of the Phuket Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment, explained that the landslide at the front of Nakkerd Hill was a type of debris flow consisting of large rocks, gravel, sand and trees, about 10×10 meters in size, which flowed down with the water and buried houses and property.

He stated that the cause of the landslide is due to the geological composition of the Kata granite, which is 91-105 million years old. As investigations continue, officials stress the need for stricter regulations and enforcement of proper construction practices in highland areas to prevent future tragedies.

Phra Phuttha Mingmongkol Eknakiri, or the Great Buddha in this temple has a base width of 25.45 meters and a height of 45 meters. Its structure is made of reinforced concrete and is decorated with white “Suriyakanta” jade marble from Myanmar. The marble alone weighs around 135 tons and covers an area of around 2,500 square meters.

The statue is located in a Buddhist park at the top of Nakkerd Hill in Karon Subdistrict, Mueang District, on a site that also includes a parking lot and toilets and extends over 100 rai (about 16 hectares).

Phra Phuttha Mingmongkol Eknakiri, or the Great Buddha in this temple has a base width of 25.45 meters and a height of 45 meters.

The place has become a popular tourist destination, attracting both Thai and international visitors for its beautiful 360-degree views of Phuket Island. However, the structure is located on a very steep cliff. The area around the cliff has been fenced with green wire mesh, reinforced with white barriers and stabilized with compacted laterite soil and gravel.

From the site, the area of the mudslide is visible at the end of Soi Patak 2, behind Wat Kata and the surrounding areas. Some officials were seen inspecting the temple’s parking lot, but no one mentioned the disaster, which has turned into a major tragedy.

Suporn Wanichkul, chairman of the Phra Phuttha Mingmongkol Eknakiri Foundation, told reporters by phone, without the conversation being recorded, that there is indeed a construction under the pedestal of the Great Buddha. This area was previously used by monks for chanting and meditation, but is currently closed for renovation work to improve the marble decorations.

phuket wat1
Several landslide marks could be seen in the lower areas of Nakkerd Hill, and water was constantly flowing over the rocks in the surrounding area.

Another area with a steel frame, originally intended as a building for monks to chant and meditate, is now being dismantled. A medium-sized Buddha statue next to it is being moved to another location.

Suporn confirmed that the construction work, which had been described by local residents as unauthorized, had in fact received all the necessary permits. The original permits were valid for 5 years and were renewed four times, for a total of 20 years. Now a long-term permit for 30 years has been applied for. The National Bureau of Buddhism, which obtained the land use permit from the Forestry Department, is mainly responsible for this.

As for the concerns of local residents, Suporn acknowledged that engineers are also concerned. However, he believes it is unlikely that the landslide was caused by the construction work on the temple site. The Big Buddha structure is designed to withstand earthquakes of up to 10 magnitudes. The authorities are currently investigating the cause in detail.

Residents around and below Nakkerd Hill have called on the authorities to investigate the area around the hill to ensure the safety of the population living below. They are concerned about the ongoing rainfall, which has already saturated the ground, and want to prevent such disasters from happening again.

B.Grimm LNG marks a Milestone with Successful First LNG Import

B.Grimm LNG Limited (BGLNG), a wholly-owned subsidiary of B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully importing its first LNG cargo on 25th August 2024. This achievement positions BGLNG as the first private LNG Shipper in Thailand to import LNG for sale to SPPs.

Licensed by the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) on June 16th, 2020, BGLNG has been authorised to procure and wholesale natural gas (LNG Shipper) with an annual import quota of up to 1.20 million tons. The company’s initial focus is on supplying gas to 19 power plants within the B.Grimm Power group.

For this first shipment, BGLNG purchased LNG from Sumitomo Corporation (Japan). The LNG cargo of approximately 65,000 tons was delivered, stored, and regasified at the Map Ta Phut LNG Terminal 1 (LMPT1) which is owned and operated by PTT LNG Company Limited (PTTLNG). The regasified LNG is subsequently distributed to 10 power plants within the B.Grimm Power’s group, including 1. Amata B.Grimm Power 1 Limited, 2. Amata B.Grimm Power 2 Limited, 3. Amata B.Grimm Power 3 Limited, 4. Amata B.Grimm Power 4 Limited, 5. Amata B.Grimm Power 5 Limited, 6. B.Grimm Power (Laem Chabang) 1 Limited, 7. B.Grimm Power (WHA) 1 Limited, 8. B.Grimm Power (Angthong) 1 Limited, 9. B.Grimm Power (Angthong) 2 Limited, and 10. B.Grimm Power (Angthong) 3 Limited.

image3 25

Dr. Harald Link, President of B.Grimm Power Public Company Limited, stated, “BGLNG is poised to expand its gas customer base, targeting both B.Grimm Power’s power plants and other industrial customers. This expansion aligns with the government’s policy of natural gas liberalisation, which will provide greater access to competitive pricing for LNG and gas users, fostering new business opportunities in Thailand.”

Dr. Harald Link further emphasized. “This is a historic day for B. Grimm Power as it allows us to underpin our existing businesses and ensure long-term sustainability. By procuring LNG from BGLNG, B.Grimm Power’s power plants will have access to a competitive natural gas supply, facilitated by the government’s policies promoting natural gas market liberalisation. In the long run, this will help reduce energy costs, benefiting the overall Thai economy.”

In addition to LNG procurement, B.Grimm Power is actively expanding its renewable energy portfolio. The company has set an ambitious target of increasing its renewable energy generation to over 50% by 2030, up from the current 25%. This demonstrates B.Grimm Power’s unwavering commitment to providing clean and affordable energy to communities and industries across Thailand. With a long-term vision of becoming a global energy leader, B.Grimm Power is determined to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

image2 25

Mr. Andrew Kirk, Executive Vice President of LNG Business and Sustainable Fuels of B.Grimm LNG Limited, said. “BGLNG has started to import LNG at a critical time for Thailand. We hope to expand our business to offer Thai consumers greater choice and flexibility as the market liberalises and increases Thailand energy security.”

The future direction of the company is to expand its LNG and natural gas business to offer services to third party gas users who are seeking competitive options. We are determined to drive Thailand’s economy and energy efficiency by developing other new businesses, such as truck loading and reloading, to continuously increasing our customer base and ensuring sustainable revenue growth

MR.Rattikool Piyavongwanich, President of PTT LNG Company Limited, expressed his pleasure in PTTLNG’s role as the LNG terminal service provider for B.Grimm LNG Limited’s successful first LNG import. He highlighted that this significant milestone by the private sector aligns with the government’s policy of natural gas liberalisation. This achievement not only provides more choices for natural gas users but also strengthens energy security, which is central to PTT LNG’s mission of ensuring the nation’s long-term energy stability.

Mr. Koji Endo, Head of Gas Value Chain, Strategic Business Unit of Sumitomo Corporation said it is a remarkable honor for Sumitomo Corporation to be B.Grimm LNG Limited’s first LNG supplier. We are thrilled to embark on this new chapter with B.Grimm, extending our established relationship from the power business into the dynamic world of LNG. Looking forward to new opportunities and innovations as we continue to make strides together in both LNG and power business.

BANGKOK — Bride faints during pre-wedding photoshoot at ‘Black Rock View Point’, Phuket rescue team carries her back.

On August 27, a social media post in Phuket, shared by Instagram user Aroon Solos, Mayor of Rawai Subdistrict Municipality, showed photos and video clips of the Rawai Subdistrict Municipality rescue team assisting and providing first aid to a woman in a bridal gown on a steep cliff slope.

Officials later revealed that the incident occurred near the cliff edge at Laem Krating, on the way to the Black Rock View Point in Rawai Subdistrict, Mueang District, Phuket Province. This is a famous tourist spot, but the path is quite difficult as it’s still a natural walking trail, and vehicles cannot reach the viewpoint.

The woman in the bridal gown fainted while walking to take photos at a scenic spot, which required a long and steep walk. The Rawai Subdistrict Municipality rescue team then had to carry the bride on their backs, climbing up from the lower area, which was quite challenging.

After reaching flat ground, they placed her on a field stretcher and carried her to where the ambulance was parked, a distance of several kilometers, before transporting her to Chalong Hospital.

When the story was shared, netizens widely commented, such as: ‘It would be better to be physically fit beforehand, as the path is quite difficult to reach’, ‘Ready outfit, ready body, please’, ‘Get a beautiful picture and run out of energy’, ‘Got a new picture and content at the hospital’, ‘You don’t need to go that far to take photos, the model brand isn’t strong enough to walk that far on such a difficult path, especially with the rain these days. Shooting at Promthep Cape is already very beautiful’, etc.

The Black Rock Cliff or Black Rock View Point is located in Soi Laem Mum Nok, Karon Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District. It’s a 360-degree viewpoint that offers a unique view of Phuket that may not have been seen before. The Black Rock View Point is not far from the Three Beaches Viewpoint, making it still relatively unknown to tourists.

The highlight of this place is the beautiful scenery, including views of Chalong Bay, Koh He, Koh Lon, Promthep Cape, Yanui Beach, Windmill Viewpoint, Nai Harn Beach, Koh Kaew Pisadan, and Koh Mai Thon.

To get to Black Rock Cliff from the Chalong five-way intersection, drive straight to Rawai Beach, then turn right towards Nai Harn Beach. Drive another 800 meters until you reach a three-way intersection, then go towards the Three Beaches Viewpoint. Once there, you’ll see a sign for Laem Mum Nok. Park the car and walk along the natural path to find the Black Rock Cliff.

Tourism officials advise that anyone traveling to Black Rock View Point during the rainy season must be extremely cautious, as rain can make some parts of the journey inconvenient and slippery in some areas.

Thai Nippon Secures Exclusive Worldwide Rights for “Playboy” Condoms

Playboy
Thai Nippon Rubber Industries (TNR)

BANGKOK  — Thai Nippon Rubber Industries (TNR) has secured the exclusive rights to manufacture and sell “Playboy” condoms worldwide, except in Mexico, for 30 years. TNR will invest between 500 and 800 million baht ($14.7-23.5 million) in a new factory in Chonburi by 2025 and plans to increase production capacity to 3 billion units per year.

On August 26, Amorn Darraratanaroj, Chief Executive Officer of Thai Nippon Rubber Industries Public Company Limited (TNR), a manufacturer and distributor of condoms in Thailand, stated that the global market for condoms is currently worth 200 billion baht ($58.7 billion) and is growing at a rate of 5-7 percent.

The five countries with the highest condom usage are China, the United States, India, Indonesia and Japan. In Thailand, the market is estimated at 1.5 billion baht ($44 million) and is growing by 7 percent annually, in line with the global market trend.

The target demographic will focus on young adults aged 18-36. The company plans to sell premium “Playboy” condoms in Thailand and globally, including in the United States, China, and emerging markets such as India, Vietnam, and Africa.

In addition, the company is preparing to invest around 500 to 800 million baht by the end of next year to build a new factory on a 16-rai plot of land. The company is currently in the process of selecting a site in various industrial areas in Chonburi Province. The new factory will increase the total condom production capacity from the current 2 billion units per year to 3 billion units per year.

“We recognize the growth potential in the premium condom market where consumers, especially the younger generation, see condoms not only as a means of contraception and disease prevention, but also as a way to create new experiences that express their lifestyle and identity. We are confident that this collaboration between TNR PLC and PLBY Group, Inc. will meet these needs and combine the strengths of both companies,” said Mr. Darraratanaroj.

Ben Kohn, Chief Executive Officer of PLBY Group, Inc. and owner of the Playboy brand, expressed his confidence in the long-term partnership with TNR. He is convinced that this collaboration will enable Playboy brand condoms to penetrate global markets quickly.

In addition to condoms, Playboy also plans to develop other products, such as CBD oil-infused lubricants and the production of even thinner condoms than those currently available.

Former Malaysian leader Muhyiddin Charged with Sedition for Allegedly Mocking Former King

Former Malaysian

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Former Malaysian Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin was charged Tuesday with sedition over a speech he made that allegedly questioned the integrity of the country’s previous king.

Muhyiddin, who led Malaysia from March 2020 until August 2021, pleaded not guilty in a court in northeast Kelantan state. According to the charge sheet, Muhyiddin made the seditious remarks last month during a by-election campaign in Kelantan.

Nine ethnic Malay state rulers take turns as Malaysia’s king for five-year terms under the country’s rotating monarchy, which began when Malaysia gained independence from Britain in 1957. The monarchy plays a largely ceremonial role, but are revered by the nation’s majority Muslims.

In his speech on Aug. 14, Muhyiddin had questioned why then-King Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah didn’t invite him to be prime minister following a hung Parliament in November 2022. Muhyiddin had claimed he had the backing of majority lawmakers.

Muhyiddin’s Islamic nationalistic bloc received stronger-than-expected support from Malays, who account for two-thirds of Malaysia’s 34 million people. Sultan Abdullah appointed then-opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim as prime minister after Anwar cobbled up support from rival parties to form a unity government.

Sultan Abdullah from central Pahang state, who ended his reign on Jan. 30 this year, didn’t comment on the case. But his son issued a strong rebuke to Muhyiddin, saying his remarks were dangerous and could divide the people and undermine the royal institution.

Muhyiddin was questioned by police following complaints against him. He had denied insulting the royalty, saying his remarks were factual and that he had handed in sworn oath of support by 115 lawmakers in the 222-member parliament.

Zaid Malek from Lawyers for Liberty, a human rights and law reform group, slammed the use of the colonial-era Sedition Act against Muhyiddin. He said questioning or criticizing the exercise of constitutional power by the king wasn’t seditious.

The law, introduced by the British in 1948, criminalizes speech or actions with an undefined “seditious tendency,” including that which promotes hatred against the government and monarchy or incites racial discord.

“The king is a constitutional monarch, and not a feudal ruler. His exercise of his power can thus be debated, questioned or criticized. This is the very bedrock of our system of constitutional monarchy,” Zaid said. Anwar had backtracked on his pledge to repeal the Sedition Act, which has long been used to suppress dissenting voices, he added.

Muhyiddin, 77, faces up to three years in prison or a fine or both if found guilty. He is also still battling corruption and money-laundering charges that he claims are politically motivated.

Muhyiddin was the second former leader charged with crimes after ex-Prime Minister Najib Razak, who received multiple charges after losing a 2018 general election. Najib began a 12-year prison term in 2022, with several more graft trials underway.

Asian Couple Dies Together After Falling from Condo in Bangkok

Two people fell from a high-rise building and died simultaneously in Soi Udom Suk 15, Bang Na Nuea Subdistrict, Bang Na District, Bangkok, on August 26, 2024.

BANGKOK — A shocking incident occurred in Bangkok where two people fell from a high-rise building and died simultaneously in Soi Udom Suk 15, Bang Na Nuea Subdistrict, Bang Na District.

Bang Na Police Station received a report at 5:00 PM on August 26 that an Asian couple had fallen from a condominium. Forensic officers, medical examiners from Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Medicine, and volunteers from the Por Teck Tung Foundation arrived at the scene.

The incident took place at a 25-story residential building. Behind the building, the bodies of a husband and wife were found lying together. The first body was a male lying on his back, and nearby was a female body. Both had fallen from the balcony of their 23rd-floor room.

Prat Saengvichit, a legal condominium representative, said he was notified by a school van driver who was dropping off students at the condo and discovered the bodies behind the building. He found the bodies of a man and a woman lying across the middle of the road and called the police.

Two people fell from a high-rise building and died simultaneously in Soi Udom Suk 15, Bang Na Nuea Subdistrict, Bang Na District, Bangkok, on August 26, 2024.

The investigation revealed that the deceased couple was staying in a room on the 23rd floor. The names and surnames of the tenants appeared to be Filipino, with Spanish-style multiple surnames.

CCTV footage showed that before the incident, the couple returned from outside and entered the elevator together. The woman was playing with her mobile phone when the man grabbed it from her. About 5-6 minutes later, both fell from the balcony of their room simultaneously. It’s possible that the man, after taking the phone, might have seen a message that angered him. When they entered the room, they likely had a severe argument leading to this tragic event.

Later, Pol. Maj. Gen. Witthawat Chinkham, Commander of Metropolitan Police Division 5, confirmed that the deceased male was a Filipino room tenant named Wifredo, aged 25, who worked as a language teacher at a school in the Udom Suk area. His wife, with the surname Wang, is Chinese, approximately 30 years old, and also works as a language teacher but at a different school.

Police speculate, based on signs of struggle in the room, that the man forcibly pulled his unwilling wife off the balcony. At the time of the incident, the man jumped while grasping the woman’s hand, causing her to fall with him against her will.

STOCKHOLM (AP) – Swedish football manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, who became the first foreigner to lead the England national team, died on Monday at the age of 76, his agent said.

Eriksson, a charismatic coach who led Swedish, Portuguese and Italian clubs to major trophies in the 1980s and 1990s before taking on the England job in 2001, announced earlier this year that he was terminally ill with pancreatic cancer.

Eriksson died Monday at home surrounded by his family, his agent Bo Gustavsson told The Associated Press.

His death followed eight months after he revealed he had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and had at most one year to live.

Fondly known as “Svennis” in his native Sweden, Eriksson had a modest, nine-year playing career before retiring at the age of 27 and embarking on what proved to be a nomadic coaching career that reached its peak when he was hired by England in 2001.

Eriksson led what was regarded as a “golden generation” of players, including David Beckham, Steven Gerrard and Wayne Rooney, at the World Cups in 2002 and 2006 and got the team to the quarterfinals at both tournaments before elimination by Brazil and Portugal, respectively.

In the only other major tournament under Eriksson — the European Championship in 2004 — England was also ousted at the quarterfinal stage, again by Portugal and via a penalty shootout like at the World Cup in 2006.

Eriksson’s tenure in one of world soccer’s most high-profile jobs was remembered almost as much for what happened off the field as on it. He had two affairs — one with Swedish TV personality Ulrika Jonsson and the other with a secretary at the Football Association, Faria Alam — which kept England’s gossip-hungry newspapers busy.

“My private life was not very private in England,” Eriksson said in 2018.

Eriksson led England to quarter finals of the 2002 and 2006 World Cups, and at the 2004 European Championship, managing a golden generation of players, including David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Frank Lampard, Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard.

Eriksson also managed two English clubs during their Thai ownership periods: Manchester City under Thaksin Shinawatra (2007-2008) and Leicester City under Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha (2010-2011).

At Manchester City, Eriksson was appointed on July 6, 2007, becoming the club’s first non-UK and Swedish Premier League manager. Despite initial success, owner Shinawatra announced plans to replace him after just one season due to poor results. Following a record 8-1 loss to Middlesbrough, Eriksson left by “mutual consent” on June 2, 2008.

Eriksson joined Leicester City on October 3, 2010, with the club in the Championship relegation zone. He invested heavily in new players during the summer of 2011. However, after 13 league matches and with the team in 13th place, Eriksson departed by mutual consent on October 25, 2011.

Eriksson has coached in ten countries: Sweden, Portugal, Italy, England, Mexico, Ivory Coast, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates, China and the Philippines.
