KHON KAEN — 28 August 2026, A pregnant woman gives birth to a baby girl inside a pickup truck after the vehicle, which was rushing her to hospital, lost control and crashed into a power pole in Khon Kaen.
The Sawang Khon Kaen Samakkhi Uthit Foundation said it received an emergency call via 1669 at 10:43 on 28 August and dispatched rescuers to a reported crash at a U-turn near the Mueang Kao housing estate.
At the scene, rescuers found six injured people, including the pregnant woman who had gone into labor and delivered her baby inside the pickup.
The 30–40-year-old mother had minor abrasions and was conscious and responsive. Her newborn daughter was delivered inside the vehicle at around 10:20.
Four other passengers were also injured. A woman aged 40–50 had a laceration to her head but remained conscious, while a man aged 30–40 and two women aged 40–50 suffered minor abrasions and remained conscious.
Three of the injured people were taken to Khon Kaen Hospital for treatment.
Rescuers later reported that the mother, her newborn daughter and the other injured passengers were safe.
Photos from the scene showed the pickup badly damaged following the collision, but everyone involved was reported to be out of danger.
