PHAYAO — 17 July 2026, A dispute between a customer and a well-known TikTok durian vendor has gone viral in Thailand after a disappointed buyer warned others not to purchase fruit from a roadside stall, claiming to have found worms inside a durian. The vendor fired back, saying a clearly displayed sign stated that customers could claim a replacement if there were any problems.

The controversy began on social media after a Facebook user posted photographs and a message recounting their experience buying durian from a stall near a small roundabout in central Phayao province, saying they could not eat a single bite.

“Don’t buy it under any circumstances,” the customer wrote, alleging the durian contained worms, tasted terrible and was a waste of money despite costing far more than just a few dozen baht.

The post quickly attracted a flood of comments, with many Facebook users sharing their own recent experiences of buying durian, both positive and negative. Others argued that if a product is found to be defective, customers should first contact the seller to request a replacement or refund before posting complaints on social media.

The stall owner, a TikTok personality, later responded in the comment section, defending the business.

The vendor insisted that the shop had a clear replacement policy and that customers could return durians if they were unripe, spoiled or had other quality issues. She added that signs explaining the policy were prominently displayed at the stall and urged customers to contact the shop directly so staff could inspect the fruit and resolve any problems.

The exchange between the customer and the woman identifying herself as the shop owner quickly became a topic of discussion online, with the post being widely shared and generating hundreds of comments.
