Cabinet to spend THB 1.9 billion on rice-pledging scheme delay

(31 October) MP Office’s Minister and Deputy Agriculture, Mr. Varathep Ratanakorn,
announced a plan to spend THB 1.9 billion to aid farmers who failed to apply for the rice-pledging
scheme.

Farmers who were unable to apply for the second round of the scheme in 2012/2014 will
be supported with the compensation paid at the same rate as the special aid.

The cabinet
plans to request for an additional budget of THB 1,907 million, which had not been included in the
main budget of THB 500 billion rice-pledging scheme.

The additional budget will be
distributed to the farmers is THB 2,121 per ton.
