PHATTHALUNG — 31 August 2026, A mother has filed a police complaint against a boarding school teacher after her 17-year-old son was allegedly beaten with a PVC pipe, leaving him injured and with visible wounds.
Supannee Khongthong, 44, a resident of Mae Khri subdistrict, Tamot district, Phatthalung, sought help from local reporters over the alleged assault involving her son, a Grade 11 student at Rajaprachanukroh 65 School, a boarding school in the province.
The mother said her son was allegedly struck on the back with a 4-hun (approximately 1.3-centimetre) PVC pipe measuring about 120 centimetres long by a male dormitory teacher.
She said she had reported the incident to the school director and contacted several agencies under the school’s jurisdiction, asking them to warn or take action against the teacher. However, she claimed she received no satisfactory response or solution, resulting in her son being unable to attend school and losing educational opportunities.
According to Supannee, the incident occurred on the night of 22 August 2026. While she was at home, one of her son’s friends at the boarding school called to tell her that her son, known as Phet, had been beaten by a dormitory teacher and injured.
She immediately went to the school but said a teacher on duty initially refused to let her enter, saying it was already late and outsiders were not allowed inside.
After an argument, Supannee said she told the teacher that she would call police to witness the situation. The school then brought her son outside.
She said she was shocked by his condition, describing him as pale and having difficulty breathing, and immediately took him to Phatthalung Hospital, where he received treatment and underwent a medical examination.
Supannee said she later contacted the school’s deputy director and questioned whether the dormitory teacher had gone too far by beating her son before establishing whether he was responsible for 40 baht that had gone missing from the dormitory.
She said her son had denied stealing the money.
“The teacher should have contacted the parents and asked what had happened. The teacher should have investigated or discussed the matter with the parents instead of punishing him like this. I cannot accept it,” she said.
The mother said she had repeatedly tried to contact higher-level authorities to seek an explanation. She claimed that neither the school director nor other officials had provided answers, and that the teacher had neither contacted the family nor apologised.
She subsequently filed a complaint at Mueang Phatthalung Police Station seeking legal action against the teacher over the alleged assault.
Supannee said her son has not returned to school because he is afraid of the teacher and wants to transfer to another school. However, she said the school had not allowed him to leave, as she was concerned that he could lose further educational opportunities.
Phet, 17, a Grade 11 student, said the teacher accused him of stealing money from another student in the dormitory.
“I did not steal it and I denied it, but the teacher still beat me until I was hurt,” Phet said.
He also alleged that the teacher threatened him and made him drink water from a can that had been placed in a rubbish bin.
On the morning of 31 August, reporters visited the school to ask teachers and the director about the incident and what measures had been taken to address the student’s situation.
However, school staff said the director was away on official duties while the deputy director, who was acting in the director’s absence, was attending a meeting and was therefore unable to provide information.
The staff also questioned the reporters about who had authorised them to enter the school.
