Thailand Solidifies Position as Global Gem and Jewelry Hub with $9.6B Export

The 71st Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair

BANGKOK — Thailand’s gem and jewelry industry continues to strengthen its global market position, achieving $9.6 billion in export value (excluding unwrought gold) in 2024, marking an impressive 10.99% growth despite worldwide economic challenges.

The kingdom has secured its place as the world’s second-largest silver jewelry exporter and third-largest colored gemstone exporter, with gemstone exports doubling in value over the past decade. This status has been further cemented by leading mining companies like Fura Gems and Gemfields choosing Thailand as their preferred location for gemstone auctions.

The upcoming 71st Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair in February 2025, Asia’s oldest and most prestigious industry event, reflects this market strength, attracting over 1,100 exhibitors across 2,600 booths. The event is expected to draw more than 40,000 international visitors and generate over 3.5 billion baht in trade value.
