BANGKOK — The Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) will set up Thai House in Japan to provide comprehensive support for Thai athletes competing at the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya and Aichi from 19 September to 4 October.
SAT Governor Kongsak Yodmanee said Thai House will provide sports science services, including massage, physiotherapy, rehabilitation and recovery, using modern technology.
The centre will operate from 18 September to 3 October at two locations. It will be based at Chunichi Hall & Conference from 18–24 September before moving to TKP Nagoya Sakae Conference Center from 25 September to 3 October.
Kongsak said enhanced nutritional support would be a key feature of Thai House this year, with Ajinomoto providing personalised nutrition plans for Thai athletes.
Nutrition will be tailored to each athlete’s training and competition programme, while meals will include Thai food and familiar flavours, he said.
Japan is home to Ajinomoto, which has supported Japan’s national athletes. Thailand is the first foreign country to receive its support under the programme, Kongsak said.
He added that several other countries were interested in adopting Thailand’s model of combining sports science and personalised nutrition support.
Kongsak expressed confidence that the enhanced support would help Thai athletes perform at their best at the Asian Games.
