Princess Sirivannavari Elevates Thai Craftsmanship on World Stage Through UNESCO x SACIT x ICONCRAFT

HRH Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya showcases Thai textile craftsmanship on the global stage through “UNESCO x SACIT x ICONCRAFT: A Celebration of Thai Artisans and Creative Cities”

Bangkok, June 25, 2025 – With a steadfast commitment to preserving and elevating Thailand’s cultural heritage to the global stage, Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya has been a pivotal force in promoting the value of Thai textiles and securing their international recognition.

Guided by her vision for Thai textiles to thrive elegantly in the modern world, Her Royal Highness has initiated numerous projects, including the Pha Thai Sai Hai Sanook campaign, which seeks to inspire younger generations to appreciate and embrace Thai fabrics as contemporary, everyday fashion, while also developing knowledge to create sustainable careers and income for weavers, artisans, and local communities and inspire innovative applications of traditional fabrics.

Her Royal Highness’s work in developing Thai textile patterns under her “Sustainable Fashion” initiative has gained international reach, with the United Nations in Thailand recognizing her role in promoting sustainability awareness. In her latest endeavor, Her Royal Highness has joined forces with UNESCO, the Sustainable Arts and Crafts Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) or SACIT, and Siam Piwat, the founder of ICONCRAFT on an initiative to preserve Thai craftsmanship and support artisans from the seven provinces in Thailand’s UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN).

This partnership has culminated in the special campaign, “UNESCO x SACIT x ICONCRAFT: A Celebration of Thai Artisans and Creative Cities.” This extraordinary campaign celebrates Thai artisans and elevates local wisdom from the seven Creative Cities, which are epicenters of cultural heritage and Thai craftsmanship, into contemporary works of art, with the SIRIVANNAVARI brand along with 14 of Thailand’s top designers and artisans developing innovative designs that will inspire the next generation.

A key highlight of this initiative is the gracious contribution from Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, the Creative Director of the “SIRIVANNAVARI” brand, in the form of two silk clutch bags, exquisitely crafted by the SIRIVANNAVARI brand under Her Royal Highness’ vision, featuring meticulous embroidery by the skilled artisans of the SIRIVANNAVARI Atelier & Academy. The first clutch is adorned with a dazzling golden peacock, the symbol of the SIRIVANNAVARI brand, its fanned tail intricately embroidered into sheaves of rice, symbolizing abundance and prosperity, and embellished with glittering glass beads and crystals. The second clutch features embroidery that masterfully enhances the underlying woven pattern, adding depth and a stunning three-dimensional effect. One-of-a-kind masterpieces, both clutches are crafted from Kaew Ching Duang patterned silk, which symbolizes lasting prosperity, unity, and harmony, woven exclusively for this occasion by Ajarn Weeratham Taragoonngernthai, the grand master of Thai silk and founder of the “Chan Soma” brand in Surin. Each piece is specially designed to honor the spirit of Thai artisans and capture the magnificence of Thai craftsmanship through a contemporary lens. The two bespoke clutch bags have been put up for auction to raise funds for the UNESCO Youth Program, which supports education and creative capacity-building for youth in Thailand’s seven Creative Cities out of over 350 selected cities worldwide, namely Phuket, Chiang Mai, Bangkok, Sukhothai, Phetchaburi, Chiang Rai, and Suphanburi.

Another highlight is an exhibition of eight traditional Thai ensembles from the royal wardrobe of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, on loan from the Queen Sirikit Museum of Textiles, marking their debut showcase in Thailand. Designed and tailored by Tirapan Wannarat, owner of the TIRAPAN couture house and Thailand’s 2019 National Artist in Visual Arts (Fashion Design), each piece, including Thai Ruen Ton, Thai Chitralada, and Thai Amarin style, is worn for royal ceremonies and official occasions and imbued with historical significance.

Additionally, a Letter of Intent (LoI) was signed between UNESCO, SACIT, and Siam Piwat, pledging to support cultural entrepreneurs, inspire a new generation of creative and cultural leaders in Thailand, and further build upon the UNESCO Creative Cities Network, with emphasis on sustainable youth education in the areas.

As part of the UNESCO x SACIT x ICONCRAFT: A Celebration of Thai Artisans and Creative Cities campaign, 14 leading Thai designers were brought to engage with local wisdom from Thailand’s seven Creative Cities. The designers were divided into two groups: seven heritage-preservers supported by SACIT and seven leading Thai designers invited by ICONCRAFT, to craft an exclusive collection. The participating designers were paired as follows: ATELIER PICHITA designing with Tai Lue woven fabric from the Kru Dok Kaew Tai Lue Weaving Group from Chiang Rai; THEATRE designing with Thai Song Dam fabric from the Ban Don Manow Thai Song Dam Weaving Group from Suphanburi; CHAI GOLD LABEL designing with Lanna-style batik from Rak Batik from Chiang Mai; HOOK’S BY PRAPAKAS designing with hand-painted batik from the Ying Batik Paint Group from Phuket; WISHARAWISH designing with Lai Yang fabric from Phusa Pha Lai Yang from Phetchaburi; PYVET designing with Jok Khon Men fabric from Suntree Thai of Sukhothai; and JANESUDA designing with colorful batik from Marionsiam from Bangkok.

Each designer created two exclusive outfits using local Thai textiles, resulting in a total of 14 one-of-a-kind ensembles. This exclusive collection was first unveiled at Crafts Bangkok 2025, held from June 18-22, 2025, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center. SACIT and Siam Piwat are long-standing partners with a shared goal of elevating creative handicrafts from the seven provinces with the assistance of design experts to add value to local Thai wisdom and promote sustainable cultural tourism.

The public is invited to visit the exhibition to celebrate Thai heritage and the creativity of the artisans and designers and view the exhibition of royal Thai fashion from the collection of Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya from now until June 29, 2025, at ICONLUXE AVENUE, ICONSIAM. Trump Says US Has Signed a Deal with China on Trade

BANGKOK (AP) — The U.S. and China have signed an agreement on trade, President Donald Trump said, adding he expects to soon have a deal with India.

Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick told Bloomberg TV that the deal was signed earlier this week. Neither Lutnick nor Trump provided any details about the agreement.

“We just signed with China the other day,” Trump said late Thursday.

Lutnick said the deal was “signed and sealed” two days earlier.

It follows initial talks in Geneva in early May that led both sides to postpone massive tariff hikes that were threatening to freeze much trade between the two countries. Later talks in London set a framework for negotiations and the deal mentioned by Trump appeared to formalize that agreement.

“The president likes to close these deals himself. He’s the dealmaker. We’re going to have deal after deal,” Lutnick said.

China has not announced any new agreements, but it announced earlier this week that it was speeding up approvals of exports of rare earths, materials used in high-tech products such as electric vehicles. Beijing’s limits on exports of rare earths have been a key point of contention.

The Chinese Commerce Ministry said Thursday that Beijing was accelerating review of export license applications for rare earths and had approved “a certain number of compliant applications.”

Export controls of the minerals apparently eclipsed tariffs in the latest round of trade negotiations between Beijing and Washington after China imposed permitting requirements on seven rare earth elements in April, threatening to disrupt production of cars, robots, wind turbines and other high-tech products in the U.S. and around the world.

The agreement struck in May in Geneva called for both sides to scale back punitive tariff hikes imposed as Trump escalated his trade war and sharply raised import duties. Some higher tariffs, such as those imposed by Washington related to the trade in fentanyl and duties on aluminum and steel, remain in place.

The rapidly shifting policies are taking a toll on both of the world’s two largest economies.

The U.S. economy contracted at a 0.5% annual pace from January through March, partly because imports surged as companies and households rushed to buy foreign goods before Trump could impose tariffs on them.

In China, factory profits sank more than 9% from a year earlier in May, with automakers suffering a large share of that drop. They fell more than 1% year-on-year in January-May.

Trump and other U.S. officials have indicated they expect to reach trade deals with many other countries, including India.

“We’re going to have deal after deal after deal,” Lutnick said.

Thai Tourism Provinces Elevate Security After Explosive Device Incidents

Phuket officials successfully detonate an explosive device at Laem Phromthep in Rawai Subdistrict, Mueang Phuket District, on June 26, 2025.

PHUKET — Governors of Thailand’s three major tourism provinces: Phuket, Krabi, Phang Nga, have announced heightened security measures and emergency protocols following the discovery of explosive devices at popular tourist locations this week.

Police investigations led to the arrest of two suspects from Pattani province: Muhamah, 29, and Sulaiman, 27. CCTV footage revealed the pair began their operation on June 21, with devices planted between June 21-23. Once locations were identified, authorities mobilized teams to search and systematically defuse the planted explosives, including at Phuket International Airport between June 24 and 26.

Deputy PM and Defense Minister Phumtham Wechayachai urged investigators to thoroughly examine all evidence before determining whether the incidents are connected to southern border unrest.

phuket
CCTV footage from a Phuket road shows a suspect on a motorcycle heading to plant a bomb at Phuket airport on June 23, 2025.

Thailand’s southernmost provinces have been gripped by a Muslim separatist insurgency since 2004, resulting in nearly 6,000 deaths and more than 13,000 injuries. In 2025, the conflict enters its 21st year with ongoing violence despite peace talks.

PHUKET

Governor Sophon Suwannarat confirmed authorities have the situation under control after meetings with security officials, police, military, and administrative personnel at Phuket Provincial Hall. Enhanced security measures include X-ray screening of both areas and people to restore confidence among residents and tourists. The situation is expected to normalize within 2-3 days.

Three suspicious devices have been found and destroyed over two days at Phuket Airport, Patong Beach, and Laem Phromthep. The devices produced only sound without shrapnel, as perpetrators aimed merely to create panic in the tourist city.

Authorities have briefed tour agents that Phuket remains safe. Police will monitor 11 key areas in overlapping shifts like a spider web to cover all routes. District chiefs and village heads will conduct X-ray inspections in all sub-districts, screening newcomers and suspicious individuals.

KRABI

Governor Angkur Silatevakul reported receiving online threats involving suspicious motorcycles and bomb-like objects in the city district before discovering actual devices. Teams searched four suspicious locations, finding an abandoned motorcycle at the central mosque and suspicious objects at Mahad Wood Sculpture Plaza (1 location) and near Noppharat Thara Beach signs (2 locations).

Security has been upgraded at government buildings, important sites, tourist attractions, shopping centers, hotels, airports, ports, parks, religious sites, schools, and universities – anywhere large crowds of Thais and foreigners gather.

PHANG NGA

Preliminary police reports indicate perpetrators intended to plant explosives at two Phang Nga locations. Police arrested two suspects driving a sedan returning from Phuket who were preparing to plant devices in Phang Nga city center. CCTV tracking showed suspects riding motorcycles from the Phang Nga Government Center before heading to Phuket.

Investigators discovered a suspicious object with abnormal characteristics along the wall in front of the Phang Nga Governor’s residence – a mass covered with stones and marked “W (Rawai)1.” The object had unusual weight, cut marks, and lettering underneath. EOD units successfully destroyed what proved to be a sound bomb with a 10-meter destruction radius.

Provincial authorities continue intensive patrols at risk points including communities, residential areas, and tourist sites to prevent incidents and maintain public confidence.

Thailand Crackdown Intensifies After Amnesty Cambodia Scam Center Report

Amnesty International
Drone footage from Amnesty International's report shows a scamming compound with high perimeter walls, security cameras, and security guards in Cambodia. The report "I Was Someone Else's Property" is published on June 26, 2025.

BANGKOK —  The Thai government has reaffirmed its commitment to combating scammer operations and human trafficking following the release of a damning 240-page Amnesty International report on Thursday detailing widespread abuse in Cambodian scam centers.

The human rights organization claimed the Cambodian government is aware of the “hellish” conditions inside thriving scam centers but has chosen to turn a blind eye to widespread torture, human trafficking and modern slavery. In some instances, there has even been “coordination and possibly collusion between Chinese compound bosses and the Cambodian police.”

“Survivors of these scamming compounds describe being trapped in a living nightmare – enlisted in criminal enterprises that are operating with the apparent consent of the Cambodian government,” said Agnes Callamard, Amnesty International’s secretary general.

Thailand Vows Enhanced Measures

The Amnesty report was published just three days after Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra announced upgraded strict measures to disrupt transnational criminal networks, including intensified border control measures and blocking illegal money flows.

Prime Minister Paetongtarn stated on Monday that Thailand will consider blocking exports that could facilitate scam operations in Cambodia and will coordinate with other countries and international agencies to crack down on cybercrime based in Southeast Asia.

Foreign Ministry Response

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Nikorndej Balankura said on June 26 that transnational crime is a regional problem requiring close cooperation and coordination from all countries. Throughout this period, the Thai government has placed utmost importance on combating transnational crime, particularly online fraud and human trafficking.

“Thailand remains committed to working with neighboring countries and the international community to eliminate these crimes completely, and is pleased to continue cooperation on this matter with all sectors, including building cooperation networks in various multilateral frameworks to fight transnational crime and protect human trafficking victims according to international standards,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.

scams
Police General Thatchai Pitanilabut, Director of the Police Cyber Taskforce and the Anti-Human Trafficking Center, announces progress in suppressing scammer networks which have relocated their operations from Myanmar to Cambodia, at the Technology Crime Investigation Bureau, Bangkok, on March 5, 2025.

Little Cooperation from Cambodia

Police General Thatcahcai Pitaneelabutr, Thailand’s National Police Chief and Director of the Police Cyber Taskforce, said the situation following border closures and telecommunications system cuts in Cambodian border areas, which serve as the primary base for scammer gangs, has resulted in a declining trend in cyber fraud.

He noted that previously, Thai authorities received little cooperation from Cambodia in cracking down on scammers operating within their territory. With current border tensions, there has been even less contact with Cambodian authorities for information coordination in suppression efforts, requiring a wait-and-see approach.

Legal Action Against Scam Centers

However, Thai authorities are preparing legal action against owners of 25-story and 18-story buildings in Poipet, Cambodia, which serve as scammer operation bases. The investigation is currently being expanded.

Regarding the “Huione Group” blacklisted by the United States for involvement in a global money laundering network worth over $4 billion, Police General Thatchai said police have some information about individuals connected to the company, but lack clear evidence of the company’s involvement.

Despite having UNODC data on scammer bases and financial routes, it remains insufficient for legal proceedings. Since the company is not based in Thailand, additional evidence must be sought.

US Cooperation Pledged

Police General Thatchai said that after US Ambassador Robert Godec confirmed to the Thai Prime Minister readiness to cooperate in combating scammers, police are preparing to coordinate requests for information about the network’s financial routes and various involved parties for use in legal proceedings, including monitoring individuals traveling in and out of border areas for outstanding warrants or surveillance targets.

Jeff Bezos’s Wedding Divides Venice and Highlights Wealth Inequality

This photo released by Greenpeace shows a large banner against Amazon founder Jeff Bezos' planned wedding, in St. Mark Square, in Venice, Italy Monday, June 23, 2025. (Greenpeace via AP)

VENICE, Italy (AP) — A star-studded guest list arrived in Venice on Thursday, descending on the lagoon city for the weekend wedding of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez, which has galvanized an assortment of protesters.

The wedding has divided Venice, with some activists protesting it as an exploitation of the city by the billionaire Bezos while ordinary residents suffer from overtourism, high housing costs and the constant threat of climate-induced flooding.

One group called Extinction Rebellion staged a small protest in St. Mark’s Square on Thursday featuring a masked bride and groom and people holding posters decrying climate change and income inequalities.

“The planet is burning but don’t worry, here’s the list of the 27 dresses of Lauren Sanchez,” read one, a reference to the bride’s reported wedding weekend wardrobe.

About a dozen Venetian organizations — including housing advocates, anti-cruise ship campaigners and university groups — have united to protest the multi-day event under the banner “No Space for Bezos,” a play on words also referring to the bride’s recent space flight.

They have staged small-scale protests, unfurling anti-Bezos banners on iconic Venetian sites. They were joined Monday by Greenpeace and the British group “Everyone Hates Elon,” which has smashed Teslas to protest Elon Musk, to unfurl a giant banner in St. Mark’s Square protesting purported tax breaks for billionaires.

On Wednesday, other activists launched a float down the Grand Canal featuring a mannequin of Bezos clinging onto an Amazon box, his fists full of fake dollars. The British publicity firm that announced the stunt said it wasn’t a protest of the wedding “but against unchecked wealth, media control, and the growing privatisation of public spaces.”

Bezos’ representatives have not commented on the protests as Bezos and Sanchez arrived at the dock of the Aman Hotel on the Grand Canal with two security boats in tow.

The local activists had planned a more organized protest for Saturday, aiming to obstruct access to canals with boats to prevent guests from reaching a wedding venue. They modified the protest to a march from the train station after claiming a victory, asserting that their pressure forced organizers to change the venue to the Arsenale, a more easily secured site beyond Venice’s congested center.

“It will be a strong, decisive protest, but peaceful,’’ said Federica Toninello, an activist with the Social Housing Assembly network. “We want it to be like a party, with music, to make clear what we want our Venice to look like.”

Among the 200 guests confirmed to be attending the wedding are Mick Jagger, Ivanka Trump, Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Venice, renowned for its romantic canal vistas, hosts hundreds of weddings each year, not infrequently those of the rich and famous. Previous celebrity weddings, like that of George Clooney to human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin in 2014, were embraced by the public. Hundreds turned out to wish the couple well at City Hall.

Bezos has a different political and business profile, said Tommaso Cacciari, a prominent figure in the movement that successfully pushed for a ban on cruise ships over 25,000 tons traveling through the Giudecca Canal in central Venice.

AP25176655529833

“Bezos is not a Hollywood actor,’’ Cacciari said. “He is an ultra-billionaire who sat next to Donald Trump during the inauguration, who contributed to his reelection and is contributing in a direct and heavy way to this new global obscurantism.’’

Critics cite Amazon’s labor practices, ongoing tax disputes with European governments and Bezos’ political associations as reasons for concern.

Activists also argue that the Bezos wedding exemplifies broader failures in municipal governance, particularly the prioritization of tourism over residents’ needs. They cite measures such as the day-tripper tax — which critics argue reinforces Venice’s image as a theme park — as ineffective. Chief among their concerns is the lack of investment in affordable housing and essential services.

City officials have defended the wedding. Mayor Luigi Brugnaro called the event an honor for Venice, and the city denied the wedding would cause disruptions.

“Venice once again reveals itself to be a global stage,’’ Brugnaro told The Associated Press, adding he hoped to meet Bezos while he was in town.

Meanwhile, a Venetian environmental research association, Corila, issued a statement saying Bezos’ Earth Fund was supporting its work with an “important donation.”

Corila, which unites university scholars and Italy’s main national research council in researching Venetian protection strategies, wouldn’t say how much Bezos was donating but said contact began in April, well before the protests started.

YANGON, Myanmar (AP) — Nearly $300 million worth of confiscated illegal drugs were destroyed in Myanmar’s major cities on Thursday to mark the annual International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, officials said.

The drug burnings came nearly a month after U.N. experts warned of unprecedented levels of methamphetamine production and trafficking from Southeast Asia’s Golden Triangle region and Myanmar’s eastern Shan State in particular.

The country has long been a major source of illegal drugs destined for East and Southeast Asia, despite repeated efforts to crack down. The U.N. agency labeled it in 2023 as the world’s largest opium producer.

In the country’s biggest city, Yangon, a massive pile of drugs worth more than $117 million went up in a spectacular blaze.

The destroyed drugs included opium, heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana, ketamine and the stimulant known as ice, or crystal meth, Yangon Police Brig. Gen. Sein Lwin said in a speech at a drug-burning ceremony.

Similar events also occurred in the country’s second-largest city of Mandalay, and in Taunggyi, the capital of eastern Myanmar’s Shan state, all areas close to where the drugs are produced.

A police official from the capital Naypyitaw told the Associated Press that the substances burnt in three locations were worth 297.95 million US dollars. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the information has not yet been publicly announced.

Myanmar has a long history of drug production linked to political and economic insecurity caused by decades of armed conflict.

Eastern Myanmar is part of the infamous Golden Triangle, where the borders of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand meet. The production of opium and heroin historically flourished there, largely because of the lawlessness in border areas where Myanmar’s central government has been able to exercise only minimum control over various ethnic minority militias, some of them partners in the drug trade.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime said in a report in May that the political crisis across the country after the military takeover in 2021 – that has led to what is now a civil war – has turbocharged growth of the methamphetamine trades.

That has caused the flow of drugs to surge “across not only East and Southeast Asia, but also increasingly into South Asia, in particular Northeast India,” the report said.

Drugs are increasingly trafficked from Myanmar to Cambodia, mostly through Laos, as well as through maritime routes “linking Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines, with Sabah in Malaysia serving as a key transit hub.”

Amid an increasingly uncertain and complex global landscape—driven by rapid digital disruption, geopolitical volatility, and mounting pressures around environmental and sustainability goals—businesses are under growing pressure to modernize their digital infrastructure. The rapid rise of artificial intelligence (AI) as a tool to enhance competitiveness further compels organizations to adopt flexible, AI-ready digital systems to drive effective transformation. However, the development of AI requires massive volumes of data, making it critical for such data to be stored and processed locally, under Thai jurisdiction. This not only ensures digital sovereignty and data security but also mitigates long-term risks related to policy compliance, governance, and operational continuity.

Mr. Phupa Akavipat, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at AIS, stated, “Today, AIS has taken another significant step in advancing the country’s digital infrastructure, in parallel with human capital development, to support the growth of Thailand’s digital economy. We firmly believe that Thailand must have its own AI capabilities to ensure long-term technological sovereignty and resilience. At AIS, we are convinced that ‘digital infrastructure owned and operated by Thais’ is the cornerstone of national development in the digital era. That belief underpins our continued investment in world-class digital infrastructure through collaboration with global technology leaders. This includes the launch of AIS Cloud powered by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure — the first hyperscale cloud platform in Thailand that is fully operated by a Thai team, with local data centers that empower both public and private sector organizations to manage their data securely, efficiently, and in full compliance with Thai regulations.”

AIS Cloud – THAI Hyperscale Cloud is fully equipped to support Thai enterprises with comprehensive and locally tailored services. These include contract execution in the Thai language, service billing in Thai Baht to mitigate foreign exchange risks, and post-sales support delivered by Thai professionals in the local language. The platform is designed to handle large-scale workloads with high flexibility through auto-scaling capabilities. It adheres to rigorous security standards and is continuously updated with new features. Moreover, it offers end-to-end support for emerging technologies such as AI, Machine Learning, and Big Data.

Dr.Passakon Prathombutr, Senior Executive Vice President/ Chief Technology Officer, Digital Economy Promotion Agency (depa), stated, “depa’s core mission is to drive strategic development of Thailand’s digital economy and society by promoting the adoption of appropriate technologies such as Cloud Computing, AI, Big Data, and IoT across business, industrial, and government sectors. We are accelerating efforts to ensure universal access to high-standard digital services, including certified cloud services, through the dSURE initiative. This framework certifies cloud providers based on criteria ranging from fundamental service capabilities to environmental responsibility through Green Technology, up to the highest level — dSURE 3-Star Cloud — which ensures data sovereignty and secure local data storage with no cross-border transfers. AIS Business is currently the very first service provider in Thailand to be awarded this dSURE 3-Star certification.”

Mr. Phupa added “AIS has also launched AIS NaaS (Network as a Service), a new solution that empowers enterprises to manage and configure their network usage independently via a self-service portal. This brings added convenience for expanding or modifying network connections and endpoints—both domestically and internationally—while ensuring seamless integration with AIS Cloud through a variety of connectivity options, including fiber optic and 5G. The service offers high flexibility and enhanced security, supported by a team of experts available 24/7.

AIS Business is committed to becoming a key platform for digital and AI transformation across both public and private sectors. By integrating capabilities across connectivity (Connect), data storage and processing (Compute), and delivering end-to-end cloud solutions—ranging from Hybrid and Multi-Cloud architectures to fully integrated Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)—we reaffirm our dedication to driving Thailand toward a leadership position in digital technology across the region.”

During questioning, the suspect provided detailed accounts of the bombing operation that began on June 21. He told investigators that a white Honda Wave motorcycle with license plate 3422 was converted into a motorcycle bomb specifically intended for Phuket Airport.

Coordinated Multi-Person Operation

According to his confession, the operation involved four individuals: himself, and three accomplices identified as “Pajoo,” “Paosoo,” and Mr. Sulaiman. The group began their journey from Pattani Province on the evening of June 21.

Strategic Stops and Bomb Placement

After stopping overnight in Krabi, the group continued at approximately 8 a.m. Before entering Phuket, they attached food delivery bags to the motorcycles as camouflage.

The suspects made strategic stops at two mosques: Ban Tha Chatchai Mosque around noon for a 30-minute break, and Nurul Jannatul Bang Rong Mosque for prayers. It was at the second location that “Pajoo” converted the white Honda Wave into a motorcycle bomb by placing an explosive device under the seat.

Mr. Sulaiman, another suspect, corroborated key details of the timeline, confirming the 8 a.m. departure and overnight stop in Krabi before proceeding to carry out the bombing mission.

The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the full scope of the plot and identify any additional suspects or targets.
