DIAGEO Reserve World Class Thailand 2019 is to make history with the bigger-than-ever bartender competition in Thailand to search for the country’s best to win global title

Diageo Moet Hennessy (Thailand) Ltd is gearing up to host the biggest bartender competition Thailand has even seen, DIAGEO Reserve World Class Thailand 2019. The prestigious competition will be a platform for mixologists from all over Thailand to shine, while the most talented and most creative will represent Thailand in the global final competition.

This year the most anticipated bartender competition, DIAGEO Reserve World Class Thailand 2019, to shake up and raise the bar of mixology circuit in Thailand with the ultimate competition in search of the best from the scene in Thailand’s four major tourism cities – Phuket, Samui, Chiang Mai and Bangkok – marking the first time in DIAGEO Reserve World Class Thailand history that competitions were held in various cities.

DIAGEO Reserve World Class Thailand 2019 kicked off in Chiang Mai earlier in January, followed by Phuket and Samui in February then concluded in Bangkok in April. The four contests rounded up more than 160 contenders, the largest number of participants since the first competition in 2011. Participating bartenders showed off their skills in creating drinks from Johnnie Walker, Ketel One and Tanqueray and 33 finalist were selected. Among them are four winners from Chiang Mai, five from Phuket, three from Samui and 21 from Bangkok.

Mr. Alexander Carroll, Reserve Director, Diageo Moet Hennessy (Thailand) Ltd., enthused that, “Since the first Diageo Reserve World Class Thailand nine years ago, this is the biggest event that went to four major cities in Thailand with four contests. And this year’s competition also drew the largest number of contestants. Not only that we aim to find Thailand’s winner to compete in the global round, we also hope that Diageo Reserve World Class Thailand will help boost the potential and hone the skills and craftsmanship of bartenders in Thailand, as well as capture the international trend. Bartenders that went to through the training and the tests are awarded with certificates to guarantee their standard, skills, creativity and service excellence as international cocktail experts.”

All 33 finalists will undertake the Master Class training session that will be held in May 2019 to arm them with knowledge and skills to perfect their cocktail making in World Class standards, that leads up the main event on June 10, 2019 where six most talented and creative bartenders will selected for the semi-final. The series of contests culminate in the country’s final on June 11, 2019 for Thailand Best Bartender to represent Thailand in the global final contest in September in Scotland.
