Princess Sirindhorn warns against overreliance on AI

Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand has urged university graduates to use artificial intelligence responsibly and avoid becoming overly dependent on the technology.

The Princess made the remarks while presiding over a graduation ceremony at Thaksin University in Phatthalung on Tuesday.

She said AI has become an important tool in everyday life, helping save time and resources while enhancing people’s ability to analyse and search for information.

“Artificial intelligence is something created by humans, not a real human being,” she told graduates.

She cautioned that AI cannot independently determine what is right or wrong, and that its impact depends on how people choose to use it.

Graduates should be careful not to use AI improperly or rely on it so heavily that they undermine their own knowledge and abilities, she said.

Instead, they should use the technology creatively, with “awareness, consideration, knowledge and intelligence”, while being guided by morality and honesty.

“Graduates should know how to use it creatively, with awareness, consideration and wisdom,” she said.

Used appropriately, AI can bring broad and sustainable benefits to personal development, professional work and the country, she said.
