Phuket crackdown on using mobile phones while driving

A taxi driver in Bangkok is ticketed for texting on his mobile phone while driving, 7 August 2014

PHUKET —  A senior police officer has ordered his men to arrest anyone caught texting or talking on their mobile phone while driving.

This includes any vehicle on the road, from trucks and motorbikes.

Pol Col Sermpan Sirikong, superintendentof the Phuket TownPolice, told The Phuket News, “I ordered my men today (August 5) to watch out for those texting or chatting while on the road.

“They have started cracking down on this in Bangkok, and I believe other provinces will follow, so I am doing it right now.
