Roscongress Foundation to Showcase Russia’s Investment Potential in Bangkok for the First Time

On December 12, 2024, Bangkok will host the first-ever Roscongress Foundation session to promote Russia’s business and investment potential in the Kingdom of Thailand. The event will bring together representatives of the Thai business community to explore opportunities for entering the Russian market.

The session will introduce the Roscongress ecosystem, featuring key projects such as the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Russian Energy Week (REW), Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), the “Let’s Travel!” Forum, the Russian Design Industry Forum, and RC-Investments.

“Trade turnover between Russia and Thailand reached approximately $1.5 billion in 2023, and Thailand became a BRICS partner nation at the BRICS Summit in November. With this new status, increasing trade volumes and strengthening business ties are high on the agenda. Roscongress projects create platforms for dialogue, partner searches, and joint initiatives,” said Chairman and CEO of the Roscongress Foundation Alexander Stuglev. “We are delighted to hold our first session in Thailand to showcase Russia’s investment potential and expand Thai delegations at major Russian business events.”

The business program will feature a presentation of Roscongress projects and an open-format discussion on business prospects and challenges for Thai and Russian companies. Speakers will include representatives from Russian business associations, the Russian Export Center, the Russian Trade Mission in Thailand, and regional businesses engaged with Russia.

“For Thai businesses, collaboration with Russia offers broad opportunities in sectors such as LNG, oil and petrochemicals, and power generation. We also see growing interest in scientific cooperation, agriculture, and the procurement of Russian products, including seafood, goods from the Far East, beef, and dairy,” said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Kingdom of Thailand Evgeny Tomikhin. “These sessions provide businesses with a chance to better understand Russia’s potential, find partners, and establish long-term relationships for mutually beneficial cooperation.”

Special attention will be given to the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF), set to take place from September 3–6, 2025. This international platform focuses on economic collaboration in the Asia-Pacific region.

“The EEF addresses a wide range of topics and gathers representatives from both business and government sectors. It includes thematic tracks, discussions on current issues, business dialogues, and sessions focused on fostering inter-country business relations, such as the ‘Russia-ASEAN’ session,” noted First Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the Eastern Economic Forum Igor Pavlov. “Thai delegations have traditionally been active participants at the forum. In 2023, it was attended by the Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, Kriengkrai Thiennukul, along with representatives from 157 companies across sectors ranging from energy to IT.”
