
Every year, Lopburi hosts a grand event in February. It is called King Narai Reign’s festival. This festival has made Lopburi very famous due to the unique nature of the festival which is the wearing of traditional Thai costume and this event also commemorates King Narai, the Great, who bestowed prosperity to Lopburi.
This aim of this event is to commemorates King Narai, the Great and to conserve and preserve the good cultural heritage of the local community as well as encouraging historical learning and to boost tourism in Lopburi.
The 37th King Narai Reign’s festival of 2025 will be held from 14-23 February for ten days and ten nights at King Narai’s Palace as well as other historical sites in the vicinity, including Prang Kaek, Prang Samyod, Vichayen residence, Wat Puen.
One of the most prestigious highlights of this event is the exhibition of Khaoprangam municipality under the theme of Himmaphan forest which is combined with the magnificence of the reign of King Narai, the great.
The result is a multi-faceted and intriguing experience. This highlights the soft power by utilizing Thai literature as a medium since King Narai Reign’s festival is filled with beliefs found in literature and contemporary arts of Ayutthaya period.
This also ties to the culture and architecture of the western world. There are 6 exhibits to feast your eyes upon, namely, gateway to Himmaphan, Himmaphan Erawan, Paradise of Gajasimha, Naga Himmaphan, Hanuman and Bird of Himmaphan. Visitors will be immersed into the literature and histories, which represent the unique soft power of Thai literature.
