BANGKOK — 26 September 2026, Rajamangala National Stadium has been surrounded by floodwater, with widespread flooding across the surrounding area and several parked cars almost submerged to their roofs. The flooding has also affected Thai national athletes.
Continuous heavy rain has caused flooding across Thailand, with Bangkok particularly badly affected.
Wuttichai “M” Masuk, a former Asian Games gold-medal-winning boxer, provided an update from inside the Hua Mak Sports Complex, home to the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT), Rajamangala National Stadium and the offices of several national sports associations.
The complex, next to Ramkhamhaeng University on Ramkhamhaeng Road, has been extensively flooded. Several vehicles belonging to officials, staff and visitors were submerged in floodwater beside Rajamangala National Stadium.
Floodwater has also inundated a large area of the velodrome used for competition and training by the Thai Cycling Association.
Water levels are expected to continue rising as heavy rain is forecast across Thailand throughout 26 September and into 27 September. Additional water flowing downstream from northern Thailand and Ayutthaya is also expected to reach Bangkok.
