Bangkok City Hall Fire Blamed on Short Circuit

BANGKOK — Investigator on Tuesday believe a short circuit caused a fire that broke out in City Hall’s Information Technology center on Monday, destroying some documents and equipment.

The fire broke out at about 6pm on Monday. Officials were seen running out of the administrative building in the capital’s old quarter as smoke emerged from the fourth floor, which houses a conference room and a data information center. No one was injured, Col. Torkiat Prombutr said Tuesday.

Torkiat said they suspect a short circuit caused the fire but have yet to conclude their investigation. Only a few of documents, computers and equipment were damaged, the chief of Samranrat police said, while important documents were safe.
