The Singleton, renowned single malt whisky from Scotland, recently won four prestigious Double Gold Awards and one Silver Award at The San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2020, one of the world’s longest-running competitions of its kind with significant global impact and a strong reputation among trade, in San Francisco. As one of the most prestigious award bodies in the world, recognition at San Francisco is truly an incredible accolade for The Singleton that strengthens its reputation as the world’s top single malt perfected over 120 years of history and unique whisky making tradition.
For the first round, the whiskies were selected in a blind tasting session where the judged received no information whatsoever of the featured brands prior to ensure equal opportunity and unbiased selection. For the final round, the judges would consider the selected spirit in its own category exclusively, without comparing to spirit in other categories. Only contenders with Gold Award marking unanimously from every judge would receive the Double Gold Award. The Singleton received four Double Gold Awards as follow.
- The Singleton of Dufftown 12 Year Old
- The Singleton of Glendullan 12 Year Old
- The Singleton of Glendullan 15 Year Old
- The Singleton of Glendullan 18 Year Old
The Singleton also received one Silver Award for The Singleton of Glen Ord 15 Year Old
Earlier in 2017, The Singleton Dufftown 12 Year Old also won Gold Award from San Francisco Spirits Competition. The Singleton Dufftown 12 Year Old sports nutty aroma and rich fruitiness on the palate. Crafted with pristine water from the stream, it was rumoured that managers of several competitors had illegally tried so many times to divert the flow of the stream to disrupt the production of The Singleton. Towards the late 19th century, Dufftown’s signature whisky style was created with the secret recipe that blends American and European oak casks, allowing The Singleton Dufftown 12 Year Old to be meticulously produced with sophisticated whisky making process and won 23 accolades from competitions around the world, including the Gold Award from Scotch Whisky Masters in 2014.
The most recent five accolades from The San Francisco World Spirits Competition brings pride and joy The Singleton, renowned single malt whisky that has maintain excellent started throughout the century, and aspires everyone at The Singleton distillery to uphold the high standard of one of the world’s most revered single malt whiskies for another century to come.
