PATTAYA — On July 16, Pol. Col. Navin Theerawit, superintendent of Muang Pattaya Police Station, received a report of a gruesome double murder at Banoo Iranian Restaurant, located at 20/132, Moo 10, Soi Day-Night, South Pattaya, Nong Prue, Bang Lamung, Chonburi.
Forensic experts examined the crime scene, a three-story commercial building with an Iranian restaurant on the first floor. The bodies were found in a bedroom on the second floor.
The male victim, Mr. Mojtaba, 64, was found naked while his wife, Mrs. Thanaporn, was lying on the bed covered with a blanket. The cause of death is still unknown, but it is estimated that the two have been dead for more than three days. A hammer was found nearby and recovered as evidence.
Ms. Kritaporn, a friend of the deceased, mentioned that the victims had a loud argument with a Myanmar employee outside the restaurant. The employee fled on the victim’s motorcycle on July 11, 2024.
The investigation revealed that the restaurant had been closed since July 11. On the morning of July 16, a relative of Ms. Thanaporn came to the restaurant after allegedly having a dream in which Ms. Thanaporn said she could not leave the restaurant. When he found the door locked from the inside, the relative contacted the police, who forced their way in and discovered the bodies.
Mr. Pan, a friend of the deceased, said the suspect, Min, a 21-year-old laborer from Myanmar, was frequently scolded by Mr. Mojtaba. He had initially assumed it was out of jealousy, but then clarified that it was due to poor work performance.
Police have collected evidence at the scene and are awaiting forensic analysis. The prime suspect, Min, is being tracked using the stolen motorcycle and surveillance footage showing him on the motorcycle near the restaurant at about 11:19 p.m. on July 11. We will keep you updated on the progress of the investigation.
