BANGKOK — 24 September 2026, Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has congratulated 16-year-old Thai singer and guitarist Nene Royal after she won the title on America’s Got Talent Season 21, praising her achievement as a source of pride for Thailand.
Ploytalay Laksameesangchan, deputy government spokeswoman, said Anutin, who is currently in New York, United States, on an official mission, expressed his congratulations to Nene Royal, whose real name is Rattikan Amloys, from Phuket.
The prime minister praised Nene’s talent, determination and efforts throughout the competition, saying her success demonstrated the potential of Thai youth to shine on the international stage.
Anutin highlighted her singing and guitar skills, as well as her distinctive performances that impressed audiences throughout the competition.
Nene performed The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” in the final at Pasadena Civic Auditorium in Pasadena, California, on 22 September local time, alongside nine other finalists. The winner was announced on 23 September local time.
Nene first attracted attention during the audition round with her performance of “Zombie” by The Cranberries, singing while playing guitar and receiving four “Yes” votes from the judges.
She later received a Golden Buzzer from judge Mel B after performing “Black Hole Sun” by Soundgarden during the Live Quarterfinals, sending her directly to the final.
Anutin also congratulated Nene’s family, supporters and everyone involved in her achievement, and thanked her for showcasing Thai talent to audiences around the world.
He said Nene’s success demonstrated that Thai youth can compete on the international stage when given opportunities and when they remain committed to developing their abilities.
The government, he added, would continue supporting opportunities for children and young people in Thailand to develop their talents and pursue opportunities on the global stage.
