30 Roads to Close for Supreme Patriarch Funeral

BANGKOK — Two years after his death, the Supreme Patriarch will be laid to rest following a procession tomorrow that will close 29 roads in Bangkok’s historic quarters.

Nyanasamvara Suvaddhana, who died at 100 in October 2013, will be cremated Wednesday at Wat Thep Sirin at the conclusion of an elaborate procession to set out on foot from Wat Bowonniwet, where his remains are currently enshrined.

The procession will affect 29 roads, including portions of Ratchadamnoen Avenue; and Din Sor, Lan Luang, Krung Kasem and Yodse roads.

Normal traffic is expected to resume after noon.
