BANGKOK — Be cool and say “Slainte!” next Friday instead of “cheers” when pubs everywhere celebrate alcohol’s most sacred day.
On March 17, expect to see more than the usual people wearing green and spending all day at the pub or club to celebrate Saint Patrick’s Day.
Here are some places to warm a stool and hoist a pint or six.
The Drunken Leprechaun
For five days next week (March 13 to March 17), the laid-back Irish bar on Soi Sukhumvit 15 will offer food specials at 300 baht per person. Indulge in drink specials starting at 220 baht, live performance from the PHD Band, lucky draws and rounds of jell-o shots.
The Drunken Leprechaun can be reached from either BTS Nana or BTS Asok.
The stylish craft beer bar offers a combo set consisting of a pint of Guinness, an Irish hot dog and a special T-shirt for 790 baht.
Brewski is located on the top of Venues Bangkok on Soi Sukhumvit 27 near BTS Asok.
The hostel-shophouse-underground music venue in the Pinklao area will host Beer Riot Fest on St. Paddy’s Day with local artists from rocking folkster John Will Sail, garage rock act The Sangsom Massacre to ska-punk The Sweeteyes and Japanese guitarist Kota Taki.
The dress code is, of course, green. Drinks are offered with special prices including free vegetarian barbecue.
Admission is 200 baht. The Overstay is located near Soi Charansanitwong 40 which can be reached by a motorcycle or taxi from the Phra Pinklao pier.

Flann O’Brien’s Irish Pub sits on Thaniya Road near BTS Sala Daeng. Another branch at Impact Muang Thong Thani will offer the same promotion.
The Huntsman Pub
Walk into a traditional British pub in Nana area for chilled draught beer or mixed cocktails and special menus: Irish stew, corned beef and cabbage, soda bread, Irish coffee mousse cake and more.
The buffet dinner costs 850 and up baht per person. Groups of more than four will get a 50 percent discount.
The Huntsman Pub is located on the basement floor of the Landmark Hotel on Sukhumvit Road a very short walk from BTS Nana.
