SUVARNABHUMI — Chinese criminals have turned against each other, with a suspect in jail sending a representative to provide information to police that he was defrauded by former business associates who allegedly laundered money through the purchase of luxury hotel businesses in the Silom district worth 5 billion baht ($153 million), ultimately leading to their arrest at Suvarnabhumi Airport.
The case involves Mr. Yin Qianying, also known as Ah Lu, a Chinese fraud suspect with a Cambodian passport detained at Bangkok Prison while awaiting extradition to China under an international criminal transfer treaty. On April 18, 2025, he assigned a former Thai police officer to meet with Pol. Lt. Col. Kittinan Aksornsom, the investigating officer at Pak Kret Police Station, Nonthaburi Province.
The meeting was to submit important documents for filing charges against Mr. Zhao Chuanbo, also known as Dong Guo, aged 41. Zhao is a Chinese man also wanted by Interpol with a Red Notice for a money-laundering case.
Following this, Pak Kret Police conducted an investigation and obtained court-approved arrest warrants for Mr. Zhao and Mr. Huang Jianping, aged 39, his accomplice, on charges of conspiracy to commit extortion and conspiracy to damage, destroy, conceal, dispose of, or render useless any will or documents belonging to others in a manner likely to cause damage to others or the public. The Nonthaburi Provincial Court approved the arrest warrants on May 15, 2025.

On May 20, Mr. Zhao and Mr. Huang arrived at Suvarnabhumi Airport and were immediately arrested. Police investigation revealed they had brought money from China for laundering through the purchase of luxury hotels in the Silom area worth 5 billion baht, along with numerous other assets. The investigating officers will proceed to issue arrest warrants for other ringleaders and individuals involved in the money laundering operation.
The suspects have been transferred to investigators at Pak Kret Police Station, Nonthaburi Province, before being sent to court with objection to bail.
