(29 April) Some Redshirt protesters clashed briefly with representatives from the national Buddhist authorities who visited their protest site in front of the Constitutional Court to ask the monk protesters to return to their temples.

Representatives from National Office of Buddhism arrived at the Redshirts camp around 13.15 and informed the 4 monks who had been camping alongside their fellow protesters for days that the Office had decided that attending protests is an inappropriate act for monks, and asked the monks to go back to their temples.

However, our correspondent said, the monks refused to move, prompting the agents to forcefully drag them away. A number protesters then confronted the agents, some shouting that the officials were sent from a Yellow-backed Buddhist temple to disrupt the protest, and a brief fistfight ensued.

The Redshirts guards eventually stopped the scuffle while protest leaders urged the Redshirts to remain calm. No serious injury was reported.

(26 April) Police rushed to a townhouse after receiving reports of a delusional man violently
hurting himself in Nakornpatom province to find a large pool of blood. Officers were informed that the incident was due to self-harm and the seriously injured man has been taken to Mahachai 2 hospital. The man did not survive.

The person was named as Mr.Tanatut (surname withheld), 38, an unemployed patient of mental illness. Initial autopsy reveals his torso area was cut open by sharp object and the cause of death was blood loss.

Mr. Tanatut’s mother, 63, informs police that she was on her way to Somdej Chaophraya
hospital to get medicine for her son when the incident took place, adding that before she left, she had taken care to rid the house of any sharp objects since the victim had often stabbed himself with a knife. She said she did not expect the victim to break a piece of glass and cut himself with it.

The body is now in the possession of the hospital and no foul play is suspected.

(26 April) Udon Thani police received notification early morning today that a dead person was found in the premises of Wat Potiwararam, Maakkaeng District.

A doctor on call at Udon Thani Hospital Center, with a number of officials were sent to the scene to find a stiff dead body of a man wearing a grey t-shirt and grey pants next to the sermon hall of the monastery. There were no signs of struggle.

Initial tests reveal he has been dead for 4-6 hours. The body was identified as Mr. Paibool Pangchan, 35, a local of Ampur Baan Dung. He was a homeless who has been living at the temple for 3 years. Speculated cause of death is a drunken fall where his head hit the floor.

The body was taken to Udon Thani Hospital Center to further determine the cause of death before the body is returned to family members for religious rites.

(26 April) 4 Redshirts are accused of insulting the Thai Constitutional Court after leading a protest outside the Court building.

At the Crime Suppression Division headquarters in Bangkok today, a representative of the Court filed the charges of insulting the court according to Article 136 and 198 of the Criminal Laws against Mr. Pisit Pongsana, Mr. Tanachai Seehin, Mr. Mongkol Nhongbualampoo, and Mr. Sornrak Malaitong. The Court′s representative also handed CD recordings of the speeches to the police as evidences.

According to the complaint document filed by the Court, the Redshirt protesters criticized the Court′s judges, causing grievous damage to the reputation of the Justices of the Constitutional Court. The complaint also accused the protesters of inciting a widespread disobedience among the populace.

Earlier, around 200 Redshirts camped outside the Court building in Bangkok′s Laksi area, to voice their anger against what they see as inference of the judicial powers into politics.
