BANGKOK — Got a name for this wider and more colorful downtown skywalk? Enter it for a chance to win a big cash prize.
After two years and a 300 million baht makeover, Bangkok’s most iconic floating walkway above the Pathum Wan intersection reopened Friday to pedestrians again. Now covered in street-art murals painted on lotus leaf art installations (pathum means lotus) by 13 artists, the urban walkway just needs a name.
Local properties have partnered to hold a naming contest where the winner who comes up with best name for the new skywalk will get 100,000 baht prize. The name must be submitted both in Thai and English and should reflect the themes of “epicenter” and “art district” concept.
Only Thai nationals can enter, so recruit a friend if that’s not you. The deadline to enter is Sept. 4. The submission form, instructions and rules are available Thai online.
The winner will be announced Sept. 14. The skywalk connects Siam Discovery, MBK Center shopping mall, Bangkok Art and Culture Centre and Scala Theatre.
